Starting salary is dependent on education, directly related experience and internal equity. After completing the second probationary semester, the potential exists to earn additional compensation by teaching overload and spring/summer sessions. This additional compensation varies based on several factors, including educational level and step. For example, a faculty member with a Master’ s degree at Step 0 who teaches 10 hours of overload during the fall and winter semesters would earn an additional $18,000. Purpose, Scope & Dimension of Job: Faculty facilitate student learning and initiate and
participate in efforts to consistently improve the level of student success. As learning facilitators, faculty consistently assess learning outcomes and their own teaching effectiveness. As professionals, faculty adhere to the ethical standards of their profession as outlined, for example, by the NEA and the State of Michigan. Where applicable, faculty maintain licensure and certifications. In addition, full-time faculty have the following key responsibilities which are described more fully below in the Essential Duties/Major Accountabilities section:

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
1. Master’s degree or higher in Mathematics or related sub-discipline from an accredited institution
with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in courses specific to mathematics or statistics.
2. Understanding of and commitment to community college teaching, mission and philosophy.
3. Innovative, flexible, positive, and equity-minded teaching style and understanding the needs of
students from diverse backgrounds.
4. Ability to teach effectively in multiple teaching modalities including face to face, hybrid, hyflex, and fully online.

5. Evidence of continuing professional development in mathematics.

3. The employee must be able to use college-approved learning management systems and computer programs.
4. S/he must be able to present information in an instructional setting and respond to questions from groups.
5. If applicable, must be able to tolerate frequent exposure to a wide variety of chemicals which are
common to the industry. Must be able to handle and mix chemicals properly and safely; and wear
appropriate gloves.

Work Schedule
Hours/Schedule:
Full-time faculty are obligated to teach during fall and winter, but are not required to teach in the summer semester. Faculty are required to maintain student communications/engagement as necessary. Full-time faculty are required to perform many of their professional responsibilities year-round even if they are not teaching in the summer.
