Postdoctoral Associate in Trypanosome Biology and Drug Discovery
A position in molecular cell biology (endocytosis or kinetoplast biogenesis), molecular pharmacology, and drug discovery in Trypanosoma brucei is available in the laboratory of Kojo Mensa-Wilmot at Kennesaw State University (https://facultyweb.kennesaw.edu/kmensawi/research.php).

This position is grant funded. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funds.
Responsibilities
- Plans and executes experiments, data analyses, submission of reports or of manuscripts to peer-reviewed publications, and/or attendance and presentation of research findings at appropriate venues of dissemination.
- Develops and contributes to new ideas for research and directions within the research group.
- Develops an Individual Development Plan (IDP) in collaboration with mentor
- Maintains official records and documents, and ensures compliance with institutional policies, and federal, state, and local regulations
- May teaching courses that may involve lecture and/or laboratory components, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements: Ph.D. in molecular or cell biology or biochemistry from an accredited institution of higher education
Preferred Qualifications: Performs research duties, literature review, data analysis, manuscript and report preparation, and supervision of students.

Abilities: Able to handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously to meet assigned deadlines
Knowledge:
- Demonstrated ability to carry out independent research the ability to meet deliverables and milestones.
- A record of creative and proactive approaches towards problem solving
- Knowledge of and experience in general analytical methods development and good critical thinking practices
- Maintains a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field.
- Knowledge of and experience in cell biology, molecular biology, or related fields
Skills:
- Outstanding manuscript writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills.
- Proficient with software applications and programs associated with the position (i.e . Microsoft Office suite)
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
- Experience with tissue culture, fluorescence microscopy, trypanosomatid biology, Leishmania biology, protein purification and characterization, RNA interference
