Summary
The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Michigan-Dearborn invites applications for college instructors and college assistants for the 2023 Math Corps UM-Dearborn summer camp. The prerequisite for this position is that the applicant is either currently in college or will be in college as of 9/1/2023. The applicant must have high grades (on supplied school transcript) in mathematics courses.
Students will be required to mentor a team of ten middle school students and five high school students. This involves monitoring the students throughout the day, grading assignments and recording grades, supervising students at afternoon activities, and monitoring arrival and dismissal of students. College Instructors and Assistants will also be required to attend an afternoon debriefing session (3:00-3:30) with the camp director.
Responsibilities*
College instructors and assistants will be directly responsible for mentoring a team of middle school and high school kids. The key responsibilities of this position are:
- Developing a strong mathematical relationship with their team..
- Attend an afternoon debriefing session with the camp director.
- Monitor students throughout the day. .
- Attend training sessions at Wayne State University.
Work Schedule
Camp will run Mondays through Thursdays from 9AM-3PM. The camp dates are Monday, July 10th through Thursday August 3th. Mandatory training will take place on June 15-16 at Wayne State University.
