Three Rivers Community Action is a non-profit agency providing economic opportunities that strengthen individuals, families, and communities in southeastern Minnesota. The organization provides a wide array of Housing, Community Development, Early Childhood, Older Adult, Energy, and Transportation programs and services.

The agency is seeking an experienced relationship builder to fill the new Outreach Director position that will oversee external relations including outreach, communications and giving campaigns. The Outreach Director will be an expert advocate for our program participants, promoting our programs and mission within our communities and across the state. The position will also lead agency-wide planning and research initiatives, including the strategic plan and community needs assessment, and be instrumental in the development of new strategic initiatives. The Outreach Director serves as a member of the agency s leadership team and reports to the Executive Director.

The position is full time with benefits and will be housed in our Rochester office. Travel is required, and consists mainly of local in-person partnership meetings in our four-county area.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Nonprofit professional with at least 5 years of management experience.
  • Bachelor s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and presentation skills, with the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders (customers, staff, community partners, elected officials, funding entities, etc).
  • Experience in public speaking and demonstrated ability to work with the public, articulate ideas and engage with partners.
  • Experience in strategic planning and/or program development.
  • Committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • Extensive organizational skills and an ability to handle multiple tasks with a high level of detail.
  • Self-motivated, confident individual with ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to solve problems, identify new solutions, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Computer savvy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
  • Valid driver s license, and ability to travel within the region and state.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in evening and occasional weekend community events.

TASK LIST:

Outreach, Communications and Community Engagement

  • Lead agency s outreach and community engagement efforts to grow and deepen relationships with partners, funders, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and training to agency staff on outreach goals, strategies, and culture.
  • Supervise team of 2-3 Outreach Coordinators who are charged with deepening relationships with communities and populations who may be underserved in agency programming.
  • Represent agency at meetings, committees, community events, and other places where collaboration is desired.
  • Develop and oversee agency s Communications Plan, including printed materials, website, social media, press, newsletters, presentations, and community outreach.
  • Assist program staff in creating consistent, quality communications regarding the agency s programs and culture of collaboration.
  • Oversee the internal communications team, comprised of staff from across all program areas, to implement the Communications Plan.
  • Educate the staff, board, stakeholders, and broader community about the agency and the issues surrounding poverty in southeastern Minnesota.

Planning & Research

  • Lead agency s planning and research initiatives, including strategic plan, community needs assessment, program-specific needs assessments, and other items as assigned.
  • Serve on the agency s management team, actively participating in the planning, development and implementation of agency level goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee the process and implementation of the agency-wide Strategic Plan.
  • Assist program leaders to form a cohesive agency identity focused on wholistically serving program participants.

New Initiatives/Special Projects

  • Represent the agency to effectively collaborate with community partners in identifying and addressing local needs of people and communities experiencing poverty.
  • Research new program opportunities using internal planning tools and explore/solicit funding opportunities for potential new initiatives.
  • Help launch new programs that stem from planning, collaboration, or outreach initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Fund Development

  • Develop and oversee agency s Fund Development Plan, including short and long-term strategies for fund development from a variety of public and private sources.
  • Explore opportunities for giving campaigns and/or fundraising events to develop and strengthen relationships with individual donors.
