Lecturer/Senior Lecturer
Mathematics Department
The Mathematics Department seeks a qualified Lecturer to contribute to our teaching and academic service efforts. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses, develop curriculum, and contribute to departmental and university-wide activities. The ideal candidate should also possess familiarity with relevant technology, such as Python or other computational tools, to enhance instructional delivery.
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate courses in allocated subject areas, adhering to the time schedules assigned by the Department Chair.
- Prepare and update teaching materials, including course outlines, syllabi, and lesson plans, ensuring the content is relevant and up-to-date.
- Contribute to developing, planning, and implementing a high-quality curriculum.
- Provide students with detailed syllabi, instructional methods, and evaluation criteria for each course.
- Select textbooks and teaching aids to enhance instructional delivery.
- Monitor students' academic performance and offer remedial support when necessary.
- Assess students’ work, including exams, coursework, assignments, and other relevant activities.
- Utilize modern instructional technologies and programming tools like Python to ensure effective and consistent course delivery.
- Supervise student internships related to teaching.
- Continuously develop and improve scholarly competence and teaching effectiveness within the area of expertise.
- Collaborate with colleagues, students, administrators, and the public professionally and collegially, adhering to the University’s policies.
- Perform any other duties as assigned, consistent with the position’s responsibilities.
Academic Service:
- Serve on departmental and university-wide committees or working groups, as requested.
- Contribute to student recruitment, retention, and placement efforts.
- Participate in community service activities in a developmental or advisory capacity.
- Support and engage in student organization activities.
- Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, reporting any breaches or risks accordingly.
- Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the fulfillment of responsibilities and tasks.
- Undertake any additional tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Mathematics or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution is required.
- Familiarity with computational tools and technologies such as Python is preferred.
- Note: Applicants holding a Ph.D. must apply for professorial ranks (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor positions) and NOT this one.
